Stationery Inspiration: Equestrian Elegance

Happy New Year! To kick off 2025, I’ve gotten back into the swing of stationery design, and I’m excited to unveil a design that feels special to me. I’ve been inspired lately by equestrian-inspired styles and Ralph Lauren-esque color palettes, so I integrated both into this design. Leaning into dark hues and golden details, this suite would serve as the perfect introduction to an elegant yet welcoming affair.

The Initial Inspiration

My inspiration for this suite came initially from my general Pinterest vibe these days, but this specific photo led me down a path towards what ultimately became the suite design. I loved the moody plaid wallpaper, the equestrian imagery, the golden lamp, and the burgundy flowers. I just wasn’t sure how to narrow my vision at first.

The Mood Board

I began with an envelope liner search, which brought me to a plaid pattern that was slightly different from the wallpaper, but still kept me in the same color family. From there, I built the cards using a combination of elegant script and serif fonts, and I found a fun equestrian pattern to serve as the border of the details card. I finalized details and added some fun equestrian nods (peep the dress code) and we were ready to mock up!

The Final Result

Everything just felt right as this suite came together in Photoshop. I loved the way the colors played together to give off that old-world equestrian vibe, yet the nature of the event feels more casual and welcoming. With letterpress on the main card, the formality remains, and the invitation has extra oomph with a mini golden horseshoe at the top. The burgundy ribbon ties everything together, giving a pop of that deep red I was aiming for, bringing out the red in the liner pattern and just adding more depth. With some extra equestrian embellishments on the flatly, the piece felt complete!
